The traditional bakehouse

Get close to the action and visit the traditional bakehouse and sniff the inimitable, appetizing smell of baked goods coming straight from a historic clay bread oven.

Exhibition Mine

"Markus-Semmler-Stolln"

Have you ever wanted to be below ground? Then book a tour at the Exhibition Mine Markus-Semmler-Stolln and you will be taken 50 metres beneath the hillside by a steel wire haulage system. During the two-hour tour you can not only explore the history of mining in our region, but also learn something new about the years of uranium mining after 1945.

Opening times and guided tours:
Saturdays, Sundays and banking holidays: 10:00am and 01:00pm

Uranium Mining Museum

A wealth of interesting information on Bad Schlema's history and how the WISMUT has effected our region since their founding can be found in an exhibition in the Kulturhaus AKTIVIST. How did the miners or Wismutkumpel live and work? What type of machinery did they use? The answers to these question can be found there.
A tour through the museum takes about one hour. Guided tours are also available. For times please refer to the list of events.

Lehrstollen am Silberbach

Bereits seit dem 15. Jahrhundert gibt es Bergbau im Schlematal. Der Stollen 35 allerdings wurde 1947 zum Aufschluss und der Erkundung der Grube Schlema – Alberoda im Bereich Oberschlema aufgefahren und gehört somit zum neuzeitlichen Bergbau.

Exhibition of classic fire engines

Those of our guests and visitors interested in classic fire engines should not miss out on the opportunity to pay this exhibition a visit. Aside from old fire-extinguishing equipment and further information on the fire brigade's history, there is also a range of fire engines of various builds on exhibit.
